The Jonah Project is a local non-profit that seeks to end sex-trafficking and rehabilitate victims. We walk through life with at-risk youth and women by providing advocacy (mentorship) and safe housing. We foster healthy relationships. We let compassion to change everything.

If you’re thinking, “Sex-trafficking happening in Spokane?” I can assure you, you are not the only one unaware of this dark monster. In our Spokane, there are more than 3,500 homeless teenagers, and 1 in 7 of them will report being trafficked. If that statistic shocks you, you are in good company. Check into the website for more information at www.jonahproject.org.

We at the Jonah Project are members of the community, from students to counselors to law enforcement, working to serve teenagers with no strings attached. Compassion is what we do. Helping our Jonah friends, who are victims of sex-trafficking or people at-risk of being trafficked, can be a variety of things:

  • filling out a job resume

  • counseling during a mental breakdown

  • getting Thai food to talk about life

  • delivering food and hygiene products

  • providing a place to live at our Safe House

  • crossing international borders to rescue a victim

At the end of the day, we are meeting needs for other people. Our hearts are for Jesus and the freedom that He brings; everything is with Him and because of Him. We serve ANYONE in need, no matter who they are, or their life choices have been, with zero leverage.

Jonah Project has become a community for me. We take care of victims as well as each other. The Gospel is represented so clearly, and God’s heart is so evident, that I can’t help but find more ways to help. Some ways that I have worked with the Jonah Project include:

  • be a house mom at Jonah Project’s Safe House

  • give lifts home from the hospital

  • advocating (mentorship)

  • open up my own home

  • relocate victims from unsafe places

  • emergency food delivery

  • and even taking a victim’s cats to be neutered to meet housing lease requirements!

As the founder of The Jonah Project, as well as a good friend of mine, says, “There is a place at the table for everyone.” Whether your passion is marketing, advocating, organizing, legalities, making meals, driving, if you have a HEART for what we do, join the family. There is a place for you to fight for freedom in the Jonah Project.

The Cherry Hill family are dear, dear friends of mine and it brings me so much joy to have Cherry Hill and The Jonah Project working together this summer!  Love from Whitworth student, Jesus follower, Jonah Project Advocate, and Cherry Hill fan, Michelina Cozzetto
