For this fruit season, we are excited to introduce Embrace Washington. Cherry Hill Orchard & Market is partnering with them to raise funds for their duffel bag program.
What is Embrace Washington?
Embrace Washington’s goal is to bless and transform the lives of children living in foster care….One child at a time. They are committed to providing care and support for children in the foster care system within our community. They do this by raising awareness of vulnerable children’s needs, identifying how to meet those needs, and connecting children with organizations with a heart to serve the foster care community. They strive to eliminate any roadblocks that foster parents face in providing a normal, happy life for a child in foster care. These solutions could be a variety of things such as a new bed, tuition to summer camp, music or sports lessons, and educational support. Activities for foster children and their families build healthy memories and experiences which allow kids to feel loved and stable during an uncertain time in their lives.
What is The Duffel Bag Program?
No child should ever have to move from one home to another with their entire life in a trash bag. Embrace Washington is aiming to add dignity to a child’s move by providing a duffel bag (in lieu of a trash bag) for their belongings on moving day. It’s a great program, but it’s not free. Each duffel bag costs $25. Cherry Hill Orchard & Market is partnering with Embrace Washington to fundraise for this project, and you can too! When you pay for your cherries, local honey, or home goods at Cherry Hill Orchard & Market, look for the donation jar. Every dollar you give will be matched. How many duffel bags will you help us provide for foster children this summer?
On Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 7:30am to 5:00pm we will be having a special Open House event at our orchard.
If you bring a package of socks, we will give you a free pound of cherries. The socks will be donated to Teen Closet. Robyn Nance (KXLY) will be here to collect your socks. There will be food trucks and music. Come and enjoy a day in the country, pick cherries, browse around our vintage gift shop, visit our farm animals, swing on our old school house swing and play a few yard games. MAKE SURE YOU DON’T MISS THIS EVENT.
